It’s a question we get a lot: “When can I open my pool?” And while you might not be thinking about it quite yet … pool opening season really isn’t all that far off. In fact, now is a great time to start planning your post-winter pool opening.
Unless you have an indoor pool, here in Pennsylvania you don’t keep your pool open all year long. So once winter is over, it’s a good idea to begin opening your pool in early spring. Begin by balancing the pool water. This will help keep algae from forming as the weather and water warm up.
If you uncover your pool and – surprise – the water is already green, it’s likely because you didn’t close your pool properly in the fall. Maybe you closed up shop to soon, or maybe the water was a little green when you put the cover on in the first place. Either way, it can be fixed – but the correction could be timely and costly. By removing your cover early you’ll get a jump on any potential issues and hopefully save a good portion of the swimming season.
Pool opening can take some time. After all, it’s a multi-step process. Clean, remove and, dry the cover. Scrub and vacuum the pool. Treat and balance the water. Etc., etc. If you’d rather skip the DIY and leave the pool opening to the professionals this year, contact us!
